Immanuel Lutheran Elementary School
Albuquerque, New Mexico

Within the historic Huning Highlands neighborhood, Immanuel Lutheran Church’s existing campus had become out of date and dangerous. The existing facilities had created traffic and student circulation conflicts. In addition, existing playground areas were difficult to monitor and control. The Design Group was hired to develop a campus master plan that would adequately resolve these issues.

A new wing was designed to help capture controllable outdoor space and organize playground, vehicular and pedestrian traffic. New facilities included classroom space and a new Parish Hall that was designed to nourish spiritual growth and create a sanctuary that the church uses for alternate forms of liturgy, including Taize and liturgical dance. The Parish Hall also included new kitchen facilities to support various outreach and inreach ministries.
