Santa Clara Governor’s Building

The Governor’s Building is sited to face the village and is aligned with the latitude of the Puye Cliff Dwellings, making it a visible and meaningful landmark from the highway with sweeping views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Black Mesa. The building houses the council chamber and the Governor’s and Sheriff’s offices.

The design takes a contemporary approach rooted in Santa Clara Pueblo culture, celebrating the community’s ancestors while responding to present-day local experiences. The facade features curved, textured panels that reflect advanced material applications for both aesthetics and environmental responsiveness, with structural integrity maintained through a combination of reinforced concrete and steel framing. The project is currently in construction.

H+Mdg’s scope included detailed analysis and programming for each department, with full architectural, interior design, civil, structural, and MEP services performed in-house and through teaming partners.
