The Century Theatre Block represents the first phase of the Downtown Revitalization program led by the collaborative team of the Hartman + Majewski Design Group and the Historic District Improvement Company. The block is sited at the ‘entrance’ to Albuquerque’s downtown. The mixed use buildings feature retail on the ground floor and offices above. Inspiration for the design came from the “pedestrian first” streetscapes that existed during the 1890 railroad era and the buildings reflect the established 30-foot traditional grid as they surround the 14 screen multiplex theater. This revitalization helps address and minimize the economic and environmental impact of sprawling growth. The final construction was completed 13% under budget.
